How Buurts is Transforming Online Community Support in Haarlem

Buurts is a collaborative initiative in Haarlem, Netherlands, formed by six organizations on January 1, 2023. Their mission is to support all residents of Haarlem who need assistance and to encourage community engagement. Buurts aims to make Haarlem a pleasant place to live and ensure everyone can participate in society. Working in partnership with the Municipality of Haarlem and various other partners and volunteers, Buurts focuses on promoting self-reliance and social participation among all residents. The organization operates on several key promises, including being a guide for all Haarlem residents, providing understanding and assistance, recognizing the strength of individuals and neighborhood networks, and maintaining an open and accessible presence in the community.
